【歴史と伝統】

製造を手掛けるのは、創業450年を誇る宇治の老舗「上林春松本店」。

江戸時代には、茶師の最高位である「御物御茶師（ごもつおちゃし）」として、徳川将軍家や各大名にお茶を納めてきた歴史を持ちます。現在は十四代目当主のもと、その誇りと伝統的な製法を守り続けています。

■「祖母昔」の由来とこだわり

抹茶「祖母昔（ばばむかし）」の名は、徳川家康公との深い縁に由来します。

かつて家康公は、上林家初代の母が仕立てたお茶を「ばばちゃ（お婆さんのお茶）」と呼んでこよなく好み、その褒美として「若森の茶園」を賜りました。

その茶園で摘まれた茶を「祖母昔」と命名。この名は、上林家だけに許された大変由緒ある茶銘です。

Product Description (English)

Legendary Matcha for Koicha: "Babamukashi"

This product corresponds to "Ceremonial Grade" and is suitable for "Koicha" (Thick Tea).

It is made from high-grade tea leaves of the quality submitted to the Joyo Tea Competition. We highly recommend it for formal tea gatherings.

The Legend of "Babacha" and Shogun Ieyasu:

The name "Babamukashi" comes from a legend involving Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first Shogun of the Edo period.

Ieyasu loved the tea prepared by the mother of the first Kanbayashi master, affectionately calling it "Baba-cha" (Grandmother's Tea). As a reward, he granted the family the "Wakamori Tea Garden."

The tea harvested there was named "Babamukashi," a prestigious name permitted only to the Kanbayashi family.

Authentic Heritage:

Produced by Kanbayashi Shunsho Honten, a legendary tea house in Uji established 450 years ago. They historically served as the Grand Tea Master to the Shogun.
